Mental Health: How does food influence your mind?

With routine, busy life, busy days, among other factors, we tend to eat fast-prepared foods, not worrying about the

quality and not even thinking about the consequences that these foods will bring. But when we realize how much ultra-processed foods and lack of physical exercise are bad for the health of the body and mind as well, we start to rethink our actions. How does food influence our mental health? Healthy eating means quality of life. A diet with an adequate combination of vitamins, nutrients, healthy fats and minerals can help a lot in the functioning of memory and brain functions in general. On the other hand, a diet based on a poor diet, with inadequate foods and with low nutritional value, can trigger several neurological problems, especially in children and adolescents.

Foods that give your brain a UP! 1) Nuts: Walnuts help to reduce blood pressure and protect the arteries, being good for the heart and brain as well. 2) Fish: they are rich in omega 3 that help prevent symptoms of depression, in addition to protecting against neurodegenerative diseases. 3) Pumpkin seeds: rich in phenolic acids and flavonoids that decrease brain damage. They are also very useful in preventing Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. 4) Broccoli: it has flavonoids, vitamin C and K, and glucosinolates with antioxidant action, which help keep the brain healthy.

5) Red fruits: protect the brain against the damage caused by aging 6) Peanuts: they are rich in minerals and vitamins, and contain resveratrol, a protective substance that acts against Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and even brain tumors. Therapy! Yes, food prevents most neurological diseases, but of course they do not in any way replace medical treatments. Combining sessions with the doctor and proper nutrition, the treatment performs much better and faster,
